An end of year update and message from team Firesprite
It’s been a truly whirlwind of a year for Firesprite!
We were excited to release an Enhanced version of The Persistence for new generation Console and PC, offering immersive realtime shadows, improved lighting, reflections and global illumination; plunging players into new depths of terror in our critically acclaimed survival horror roguelite. PlayStation PS+ Subscribers can still experience the terror of The Persistence until January 4th, including the free upgrade to Enhanced!
We were excited to be recognised as one of the fastest growing technology companies for a second year, placing number 11 in the Northern Tech Awards. We welcomed SO many talented developers to our team and are very thankful for the depth of skill, creativity, passion and dedication that our sprites bring to work every day. We also had the joy of officially welcoming Fabrik Games into the Firesprite family and are proud to now be over 250 strong!
Our HR and People Development teams worked tirelessly to keep us all feeling connected whilst we work remotely, including our Thank A Sprite program to recognise employee contributions large and small, our weekly newsletters, online coffee catch ups, quizzes and much more – not to mention all the amazing goodies they generously decorated our mailboxes with again this year! They also introduced new inclusion initiatives. We had an insightful trans and non-binary workshop with Global Butterflies, and we’re proud to say that Firesprite are a Ukie Raise The Game and a Safe in Our World Level Up Mental Health partner. We’ll have more diversity and inclusion news to share with you next year.
In 2021, our generous sprites and community outdid themselves and raised a whopping £6,250 for charity. THANK YOU to each and every one of you who donated in support of PAPYRUS Suicide Prevention and Macmillian Cancer Support, and a special thank you to the sprites who walked 4 million steps, baked gaming themed cakes and competed in a Esports tournament in sponsorship of these incredible causes. And if you spotted Spyro The Dragon around Liverpool this summer, you’ll have seen our awesome Manager Director, Graeme Ankers, on his mighty 10k run and 200 push-up challenge!
This year we also had the honour of joining the PlayStation Studios family. We can’t thank you enough for the incredibly warm welcome you gave us, and for all the touching messages of welcome from our new sister Studios and PlayStation family. The PlayStation community has been so warm and supportive, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on! PlayStation strive to deliver incredible experiences for their players, and we look forward to honouring that legacy.
We have SO much in store for you in 2022, and beyond, and are so excited to be on this journey with you.
We wish our wonderful community, sprites, and partners a safe and Happy New Year. We’ll see you in 2022!
