Celebrating inclusivity this Pride, and beyond
This Pride, we were delighted to introduce our Pride at Firesprite series, a space to discuss community-driven questions and areas of significance and importance to our sprites.
In these insightful articles, our sprites explored LGBTQIA+ representation and inclusivity in games, they discussed what the games industry can do to foster supportive environments, and they shared incredibly touching personal stories and compassionate advice with their younger selves. We’d like to extend a very special thank you indeed to our sprites for their time and insights.
A huge thank you too to every single sprite who donated to our Pride fundraiser for Mermaids! Mermaids: ”supports transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children and young people” and our sprites proudly raised £520, which Firesprite doubled, for a donation of £1,040 to this impactful charity.
At Firesprite, we understand that Pride is not only about equality, acceptance and breaking down barriers, but also celebrating the work of those within the LGBTQIA+ communities and raising awareness of the issues that people are faced with. Be it our commitment to a culture of inclusion and mutual respect, our means of charitable fundraising, or company-wide initiatives, we continue to educate ourselves and the wider studio with events such as our frequent lunch and learn workshops with the amazing Global Butterflies, a company which helps businesses become transgender and non-binary inclusive, and we are proud to continue our visibility and support throughout Pride month and beyond.
As we head into the weekend and our magnificent home city gets ready to March With Pride as part of the annual Pride in Liverpool celebrations; we’d like to take this moment to once again wish our LGBTQIA+ sprites, family, friends and fans, a very happy Pride!
